How do you guys feel about these organizations that look valid but gives you a black belt certificate with their association's logo for $100 or so?  They say an existing certificate is required but as long as you pay, even with no proof of rank, you'll get it.

I won't name the organizations but I'm sure you've heard of them.

Unfortunately this really lowers the standards of real martial artists.  We all train hard and it sucks that someone can train for a year or two until they get the basics really well, then get a 3rd degree certificate.

The question that I have is, if this is so well known in the community, why is that nobody is doing anything about it?  And, there are so many of them!  Somebody or some organization need to take the lead on this and get a campaign going.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's anybody can do about those.  We just have to aware about the black belts that come in to our class and verify their credentials.

It is like those fake college/university diplomas.  It's all over the internet and the real colleges, universities, or even the government is not cracking on those.

I have to say that it's really sad that some people would stoop to such levels to try to make themselves appear to be more than they are. I literally cried the day I was awarded my Fourth Dan. My daughter was there and she saw what I went through to get my rank. I know in my heart I earned my rank and my daughter saw that even Daddy has to work for what he wants. If they want to fake it, it'll show not just in the ring or dojo, but also in their hearts. They'll never know the feeling of accomplishment one feels after knowing your hard work has paid off.

Actually the US Attorney General has been targeting non-accredited schools that hands out anything degree or titles that pertains to academics situations. It is illegal to disperse titles such as professors and Doctors.

Maybe those titles. But how about Bachelors or Masters?
