This drill is for all level. First have the defender hold a shield in front of his/her body. Depending on the kick of the day, the attacker's mission is to hit the shield.

Now the fun part. The defender's job is to shuffle back, side step..etc to evade the attackers line of attack.

NOTE: The defendar must never twist the shield around, Defender must keep shield in front of his / her body at all times, Otherwise defender risk of getting hit by the attacker.

The attacker must chase after the defender, focusing on the shield.

Do this for 3 minutes or for all blackbelts 5 minutes.

Benefits:

The defender can learn evasive footworks, The attacker can learn distance control and timing. Overall its a great cardio drill !

Sounds like fun.  I should try it in class.  But I can the potential accidents of "defenders" running into each other or being hit unintentionally by the "attackers"

We used that kind of training for a little while.  But it all depends on how many people in class you have.  If you have too many, it's chaos.  If you have enough, it's fun.

Never had this problem unless the Braille institure of Karate decides to do this drill , well that's a different story.

This may be off topic a little bit.  But, does martial web plan to have a section for martial arts tips?  A member contribution would be great so we can share all our ideas in one place.  It's kind of hard to find tips in a forum since it's all scattered.

What do you think?
