Again, it depends on the preference and goal of the person.

While I repsect the hard work and discipline that MMA artists put into perfecting their fighting skills, I do not feel that it is the ultimate in martial arts, nor do I think it personifies the martial arts as a whole. I do like the way the MMA incorporates skills from all styles, but history has shown that it's not the art, it's the artist that makes him/herself the best fighter. In a nutshell, whatever your style of choice, work hard and be the best you can be. Not for trophies or magazines articles, but for yourself.

I'm a TKD guy (not sport TKD) more of the ITF style of traditional.  I use to compete in point sparring, I'm more of a coach now.  I enjoy watching MMA....but it's a sport (aka not real).  I do enjoy "the Ultamate Fighter"  TV show on Spike.  You get to know the fighters a bit better, and later down the line you can really get behind a fighter in a match.

UFC, Pride and K1 have all come a long way in the last 10 years.  BJJ does not dominate anymore, but let's see a fighter win without it (it's rare).

Anyway, my thoughts.........

I love UFC fights, whether it's the UFC or Ultimate Fighter show on Spike.  This is what they do for a living...training, training, and then training for one fight.  People like me who have a jobs that are not in the martial arts industry don't have the luxury to do that.   So in that regard, it's great to see their determination.

I love all kinds of martial arts (internal arts, traditional external arts, xma, or cage fighting).  It amazes me the things we can make out bodies do.

I watched Ultimate Fighter 3.  Before seeing the 2 coaches, I respected Ken Shamrock and couldn't care less about Tito Ortiz.  After the show, I find myself hating Shamrock for his arrogance, laziness, egocentric, and big mouth (guess he forgot Tito made his face look like raw hamburger from the last fight).   I became very impressed with Tito's devotion to his team, trained with them, motivated them, and was never about him.  The only thing I didn't like about Tito was his favoritism to that deaf guy (his fight ended up sucking!).

So, for this fight on Saturday...I hope Tito cripples Shamrock and retire him for good.

Traditional, but I've learned to enjoy MMA - now that BJJ does not rule anymore.

I've pulling for Tito as well, but he seems to have an ego.  I'm a big Matt Hughes fan, doesn't seem to shoot off his mouth then shuts everyone down in the ring.
