For years I'm been thinking about opening up a school here in AZ. Dont' know a lot of martial artists here since I just move here. How do you get started when you're not known in the community?

Aside from business plan, which I'm sure you know, start networking in your community. Get to know other martial artists and showup or compete in tournaments. You don't want to be perceived as just some guy who's got a black belt that opened a school.
Wherever you want to open the school, get the demographics and monthly dues other schools in your area are charging. Ask yourself "Why do these people want to take my class?" or "How can I reach out to these people who are interested in learning?"
There's a lot to do. You'll just have to do some more research. But, hopefully, those can you get you started thinking in the right path.

Get into a Boys and Girls club, that gets you into the local school system...a big plus! Get involved in a local Church (that is if you are religious).

| i am starting a study groop with some of my close friends they are gunna help me with developing aplication and i will teach them my style i have voud never to sell my art i hand pick students and will only trade knowledge for knowledge how do yo ufeal about that as a learning teaching method i have had to improve and wing alot wiht my martial art as i dont have the money to train traditanaly still i think self teaching is a plausably means

| Harvester, I had the impression that you were only training for a couple of years and only teaching yourself and "creating" your own style. Don't you feel that you should train yourself and explore your world first before teaching others?
